It's been over a decade since The Walking Dead hit comic shelves with its first issue. On January 13, 2016, Robert Kirkman, Charlie Adlard, Dave Stewart, Tony Moore, and others bring us a new milestone in the series' history: the 150th issue!
This double-sized anniversary issue is just $2.99, but you know it's a major issue when there's more than one cover!
This new issue comes with a total of five covers, including the regular cover by Adlard and Stewart. What's even better is that one of these covers sees the return of The Walking Dead co-creator, artist for the first six issues, and the first 24 covers, Tony Moore returning to the book to do a "tribute" variant cover to the first issue's iconic cover!
Another co-collaborator of Robert Kirkman's is Ryan Ottley, who works with Kirkman on the highly-successful Image superhero comic Invincible as the series' artist. He brings his talent to another one of the variant covers for The Walking Dead, as well, and it's sharp! There will also be a variant by artist Jason Latour, who is currently one of the hottest artists in the industry, right now, between the highly-successful indie title Southern Bastards, which he works on with Jason Aaron, and his work on the hit new Marvel Comics character Spider-Gwen!
Creator Robert Kirkman had to say, in the press release for this issue...
"It's indisputable that reaching issue 150 is a huge achievement in comics. Charlie Adlard and Team Walking Dead have been working tirelessly for over a decade to get us to this milestone and now it's time to celebrate. It's an honor to have comic book pals Jason Latour and Ryan Ottley bringing their vision to these iconic characters. Additionally, words cannot describe how excited I am to have Tony Moore ... returning to provide a cover for this special event.”
They're really pulling out all the top-name artists for the variants on this one! That's how you know this is gonna be a big one! And any Walking Dead fan knows Kirkman doesn't disappoint!
